BIOGEM provides Agilent expression analysis services to both UCSD and non-UCSD researchers. Investigators have the option of either having BIOGEM perform both the target labeling and chip processing, or having BIOGEM perform the chip processing with labeled target provided by the investigator. For optimal microarray data, researchers are encouraged to have BIOGEM perform the target labeling and hybridization.
The Biomedical Genomics Facility is fully equipped to process Agilent oligonucleotide microarrays, once total RNA has been provided by the investigator.
The costs associated with an Agilent experiment include
Agilent is currently providing UCSD with special pricing for oligonucleotide microarrays and the requisite labeling reagents. Current pricing information
can be obtained by contacting Phillip Douglass. Alternatively, you can download a pdf with the current UCSD pricing
.
Slides and Regents can be ordered directly from Agilent and shipped to BIOGEM.
The labor cost is based on the number of biochips processed at the same time and whether BIOGEM carries out the labeling and hybridization or just the hybridization. For optimal data, researchers are strongly encouraged to have BIOGEM carry out the labeling and hybridization. The labor cost has a volume discount. For greater than 24 biochips please contact Cyndy Illeman.
Note, Agilent is a two-color microarray platform. The regular cost per sample is $202. Two samples are usually run on one microarray. For an estimate of how much an Agilent oligonucleotide microarray costs, please use our Microarray Cost Calculator.
The UCSD rates are applicable to UCSD researchers. Service is however available to non-UCSD researchers.
For those researchers working at non-profit institutions (i.e. academic/research institutes) there is an outside non-profit rate. The rate is based on the UCSD rate plus 45%. CA Sales Tax (7.75%) will be collected from all Non-UC clients.
For those researchers working at for-profit institutions (i.e. biotech companies/pharma) there is an outside for-profit rate. The rate is based on the UCSD rate plus 100%. CA Sales Tax (7.75%) will be collected from all Non-UC clients.
Researchers that work at an outside institute but have a UCSD affiliation (e.g. Adjunct Appointment/collaboration) will only be eligible for the UCSD rate if payment is with a UCSD index number. If payment is via a PO from their respective organization then the outside non-profit or outside for-profit rate will apply.
